Interlibrary Loan Services
Are you searching for an item Jefferson County Public Library (JCPL) does not own? Remember to check Prospector+ first. If you are still searching, our Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service may be able to borrow the item from another library for you.

All ILL searches begin with an online ILL request form. Simply fill in an online form.

We need the most accurate information you can provide: title, author, date, publisher, and where you learned about the title will help us get the requested material.

The ILL process takes approximately three weeks, while difficult searches or popular titles may take months.

JCPL does not charge for this service. Most of the lending libraries also provide ILL service free-of-charge, but there are libraries that charge to lend and to make photocopies. The average cost is $10-$20. Please indicate on the ILL request form the maximum amount you are willing to pay, even if it is $0. (We always try the free sources first, even if you are willing to pay. The vast majority of ILL items are borrowed at no charge)

There are some items libraries will not lend under any circumstances. Examples may include: reference books, old, fragile, or rare books, some genealogical material, local history material, some AV material, etc. Though the libraries will not lend these materials, they may do some photocopying on a limited basis.

We will always let you know the results of your ILL request by mailing or emailing you a notice, even if we cannot borrow the requested material. If you have not heard from us, we are still working on it!

The average loan period for an ILL request is about 3 weeks. The lending library determines the loan period. ILL books are not renewable.

Call ILL at (303) 275-2224 Tuesday through Friday between 8 am and 5 pm if you have questions about your ILL request. We can also be reached by email at jcplill@jeffcolibrary.org. For all other library related questions please call 303-235-5275.
