Standley Lake Library Temporarily Closing for Renovations, Enhancements

(ARVADA, Colo.—Dec. 30, 2008) The Standley Lake Library, located at 8485 Kipling St. in Arvada, is closing for renovations Jan. 12 through March 20. During the closure, Standley Lake patrons can visit any of the nine other Jefferson County Public Library locations, the closest being Arvada at 7525 W. 57th Ave.

"We are very excited that several new enhancements will be added to Standley Lake, as well as the expansion of our quite popular, self-service alternatives," said Standley Lake Library Manager Suzanne McGowan. "Each year, we serve more than 300,000 people and we are anxiously awaiting the completion of the renovation, as are our patrons."

Once reopen, the Standley Lake Library will offer four new self-check units, bringing the total to eight. Patrons can look forward to all new computers, with additional units in the children’s, teen and adult areas. New additions will include a two-person study room and a family computer room for parents or caregivers with infants and toddlers. New services also will be provided, including literacy computers for preschoolers, charging stations, and a new teen area with group and individual study areas.

While closed, children's storytimes will take place at the Arvada Library and the Apex Center, located at 13150 W. 72nd Ave. in Arvada. The storytime schedule is available at http://jefferson.lib.co.us/pdf/sl_closure.pdf.

The exterior book drop will remain open; however, book donations will not be accepted during the closure. Patrons are asked to take donated books and materials to the Lakewood Library, 10200 W. 20th Ave. Library materials can be returned at any other Jefferson County Public Library location.

Holds with the Standley Lake Library as the designated pick-up location will be available at the Arvada Library during the closure unless other arrangements are made.

Once renovations are complete, Standley Lake Library staff will host an open house on Saturday, March 21 beginning at 10 a.m. Light refreshments, music, and activities for children will be offered.

For questions regarding holds, or to renew items by phone, please contact 303-235-JCPL (5275).
