I found this book at the bookstore, and the cover just screamed, "BUY ME! READ ME! LOVE ME!" I did. The artwork is amazing, and all of it is done by the author. Candy rocks. (8/1/09)

Great read! (12/14/10)
Nicole, 14

Great read! (11/1/10)
Kaylah, 12

We're reading this book in class! It is really good, but some of it is hard to read because of the dialect. Geez it's really really hard not to want to talk like Huck does after you put the book down after you've read it a bit. (9/21/10)
The Shadwo, 13 - but almost 14

I thought this book was great. If you are used to modern day teen novels, I can see why you would think its boring. But I loved it and I actually kept up on the reading for it at school! (9/5/10)
Lily, 13

lisa, 12

This is a wonderful book! (7/27/10)
Nicole, 13

I had to read this for school. Seriously, it's easy to read this within an hour or two. Then we went over the deeper meanings of this book. There's a lot to this book, trust me! (6/5/10)

book jacket image Afterlife by Gary Soto

a pretty good book. (6/10/09)
natti, 15

The "Afterlife," by Gary Soto. This book was a fiction book and a really good one at that matter. I chose this book for a rally good reason because I needed to hurry up and pick a book so I was rushing. So I quickly grabbed a book and returned to my class. I guess you can say it was a big, big mistake but it was one of the best mistakes I have ever done. "That's how I got to read this wonderful book." This book takes place in California. The most important event was a tragedy one this event caused many people to suffer. It was when Jesus was found dead with a knife wound in his back, a tragedy that happened in the bathroom of club Estrella. This part was a mess up event it shock me especially for the reason why it happened, I was piss off. Some characters were Jesus also know as Chuy, Crystal, and yellow shoes. Those are the most important characters. My favorite character is Jesus I like the even though he is dead he feels no hate no revenge. That's something you never find in a person. I guess that my favorite part was when Jesus got murdered the author describes that part very well. The conflict of this book was that Jesus is dead and knows he is a ghost, he must say his goodbye because his days of rooming the earth are ending. What will happen in Jesus quest to find forgiveness? (5/21/09)

Al Capone Shines My Shoes by Gennifer Choldenko

I liked this book a lot but I didn't really get into it until the end when they get "kidnapped" It was way different than I thought it would be though because Al Capone didn't shine his shoes...but he did according to the title?? (6/17/10)
Madi, 12

This was a really good sequel, it took me a while to get around to reading it, but I wasn't disappointed when I started it, even though I thought I somehow might be. (6/2/10)
The Shadow, 13

book jacket image Alibi Junior High by Greg Logsted

its a pretty good book. kinda weird but good (9/6/10)
heather, 12

I picked up this book and the cover was very misleading. I was expecting to read a book for elementary kids. When I got into the story, it was very interesting. There were so many unexpected parts of the story. The book doesn't end the way you would expect it to. I was very happy that I didn't put the book back on the shelf. Keep reading, you will be surprised. (6/15/10)
Wilber, 14

book jacket image And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie

Though the beginning does drag its feet a little, don't let that turn you off to the book! The plot is very intricate and inventive, and there's always something to make you go, "I wasn't expecting THAT to happen!" Murder mystery aficionados should definitely give this one a whirl. (10/30/09)

book jacket image Angels & Demons by Dan Brown (Robert Langdon series #1)

Angels and Demons is the name of my book. This is fiction; it is not based on a true story. I chose this book only because it got my attention, and my brother read it so I wanted to challenge myself-turned out to be good. One day in Massachusetts a man called Langdon who studied about religion got called one early morning sleeping by the phone. A man kept on telling him he wanted to see him. It was urgent. Langdon seemed not to care a bit. They send him a fax with a dead man with a word burned to his back that said "ILLUMINATI." It got his attention. Once more the phone rang but this time Langdon got interested in this. The stranger sent a plane to go get him. When he got to him he noticed that it was Boston Harbor. He got out and saw a Bulletin that said CERN. This old men stood in front of him with a wheelchair who introduced himself as Director Kohler the man who called him. He took Langdon were the killed stranger was. Kohler explained that he was his best scientist at CERN. He recalled that the dead man which indeed had a name Leonard Vetra. Well getting back; Leonard Vetra’s daughter was on her way for her father's death. Kohler wanted to see what "Illuminati" meant, to help him solve this case. As he talked Langdon explained the religious people and scientist didn't cooperate with each other because their thoughts were different. Out of nowhere illuminati groups started to form the ones who attacked the scientist who found science in common with religion. As they watched Vetra's body they noticed one of the eyes was missing. The noise of the radio of somebody talking informed Kohler that Vittoria Vetra's daughter arrived. Once Vittoria got to her destination with Kohler, he demanded her to show him her dad's experiments which they kept as top secret. Vittoria respected him and took them there. When they got there Vittoria placed her eye on! a scanner and the door automatically opened. Kohler saw Vetra's eyeball on the ground in the floor as he said good thing Vittoria didn't spy it. My favorite character in this book is Langdon. He is a very patient man who pays close attention. He understands details and facts he doesn't know about and is smart about history. The conflict here is that they are trying to find out who did it and why they did it. My favorite part was when they found Vetra dead on the ground with the burn on his chest, it gives a lot of details of how it looks and the part were they found his eye this means that someone went in and killed him for his experiments. Why would they want to see his stuff and just kill him to do so? (5/22/09)

book jacket image The Astonishing Adventures of Fanboy and Goth Girl by Barry Lyga

i read it...it was okay, but nothing special... here's the plot... geek boy (fanboy) whines, fanboy has sexual fantacies, fanboy has death wish for everyone, fanboy fines gothgirl, gothgirl swears, (repeat cycle till book ends) (6/12/08)
Gia, 15

It's somewhat obvious what his third thing that he wants above all else is... I'll let you figure it out. (4/8/08)
Arbitier, 15

This story is about relationship and bullying. It's about a "geek" who wants to be understood but doesn't understand others. Although this book had a lot of heart, it needs a lot of work. I have no clue what the main character's name is and I read through the book twice. The first reference to his name comes in Chapter Five and he is called the pet name of "Donnie". The author really understands the ideas and feelings behind his story but he needs to work on making the intuitive plot stronger and therefore easier to understand. As the story came to an end, I understood perfectly how the main character felt but had no clue what was happening to him. His third "thing" that he wants above all else but will not tell the reader is confusing and misleading. I would not recommend this book to my friends. (3/31/08)
Sammy, 15

I can't stand werewolves. How can any other person? (10/9/07)
Arbiter, 14

I really, really enjoyed this book because the author really got into your head and understood how people would react to certain situations. Yeah, werewolves don't exist but that doesn't mean that I can't enjoy a story with that has one as the narrator. (9/15/07)
Samantha, 15

well written, and a plus, its about werewolfs! (9/13/07)

Becky, 13

I want to review this too!

book jacket image Blood Ties by Pamela Freeman

Full of thought, action, and touching stories, this book is written in a very creative manner. It tells the story of Bramble, an untamable girl who simply wants to be loved. It tells the story of Ash, a trained warrior trying to escape the ghosts of the people he has killed. It tells the story of Saker, a man who wants his family back but is willing to settle for revenge instead. It also tells the stories of the people that these three encounter. The unique use of all of their voices in the first person makes this book a fast read that I wanted to reread immediately when I finished it. My only complaint is that the ending makes me long to read the next book in The Castings Trilogy. (3/31/08)
Sammy, 15

book jacket image Bloom by Elilzabeth Scott

Okay, so one of my friends said this was a pretty good book, so i thought that i would read it. and when i did, i was like WOW this is a really good book. its about a girl who has the perfect boyfriend, as in he is polite, doesn't pressure her, her parents love him, he is gorgious, and so on. so when her old friend Evan Kirkland moves back into town she starts to realize that she really can't imagine herself as her boyfriend's wife one day, which is all he seems to talk about. so then she has to make a choice, Dave: the perfect boyfriend or Evan: if she wants him, she is going to have to take a big risk of losing just about everything. I know the way i explained it, it sounds weird, but seriously, it was a great book!! (6/23/09)

book jacket image The Book of Mormon

The Book of Mormon is sort of like reading a bunch of skits loosely based on biblical stories and fantasy and having them knotted together in uneven lumps. It's sure to leave readers wondering what just happened, but if you can excuse the irrational bits (Satan and Jesus being brothers), it might make more sense? I don't know since so many plot holes make me uneasy. (Why is this in the Teen section?) (9/19/10)

book jacket image The Carbon Diaries 2015 by Saci Lloyd

This is a sort-of UK version of "Life as We Knew It." Unchecked pollution has wreaked havoc on the planet and there is no longer any such thing as "normal" weather. The United Kingdom decides to start rationing carbon allowances to its residences: for heat, for travel, for whatever. For 16-yo Laura, who just wants to play in her punk band, this is a HUGE imposition. The book's very well done, a gripping story that made me think twice about my carbon footprint... (10/14/09)

book jacket image Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul on Love & Friendship compiled by Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen and Kimberly Kirberger

This book was a great book!!! I think that you should read it and it helps get you through tough problems. It lets you know you aren't alone and it can give you advise about what and what not to do. (6/1/09)
Kelsey, 13

Chicken soup for the teenage soul on love and friends is an anthology book. I chose this book because when it was in the bookshelf the colors the book cover had got my attention and I decided I wanted to read it. So this book is about love and friendship. New friends, new loves, new experiences, new people to see and meet. Example: girl meets guy and fall in love, tragedies that bring friends together, the first kiss and more… The story I really liked is called friends for life. Tina and Tim are best friends they do everything together. They share too much time with each other that a little flower is starting to open inside their hearts (they are falling in love). It's their last day in high school and they are off to college. Tina really wants to tell Tim that she loves him and she doesn't want him to go to a far away college because she is not going to see him as much. Tina has to go to college to leave her stuff and she just felt out of place, sad and lonely. She goes to Tim and find out what happens next…. My favorite character is Tina because she knows she likes him and she is willing to tell Tim the truth. I really recommend this book for adolescents because it has a lot of lessons for teenagers to rely on. This book can really encourage teens to do more than they normally would do and confront their fears. Like telling your biggest crush you like then without feeling scared or bad of what you did. Read this book it's great! (5/21/09)

Denise Vega came to our school and talked to us about this book. Immediatly I wanted to read it and I am so glad I did. The real life problems that are presented in this book really make you think about what you are writing in your blog or diary about people. There is always the chance that someone will read it. Long story short, it is a great book to read if you are dealing with a major problem and need an idea for a solution. (6/18/06)

Page turner! You want to see what happens. IT ROCKED! (6/15/06)

book jacket image The Clique by Lisi Harrison (Clique series #1)

The Clique is about a girl called Claire moving from the sunny states of Florida, into a guesthouse in Westchester owned by the parents of snobby Massie Block. Massie goes to OCD, a middle school, with a 4-girl group who call themselves 'The Pretty Committee' and are fairly popular girls. There are laughs and sadness in this book as you go through the suffering of Claire Lyons and the torturing from Massie, Alicia, Dylan and Kristen. The ending was very surprising, if you tell me. SORRY IF I GAVE TOO MUCH AWAY :) (10/23/09) Trisha, 11

these books are Ah-mazing. LOL! They are about 4 girls at a super exclusive school and set cliques for others. Then a new girl comes and lives in the guest house of the most popular girl in the school, Massie. There are a lot of twists and good plots. I heart these books! (6/14/09)
Pink Sports Gal, 14

Really easy books but also very good. It's not like other books were a group of friends don't like the new girl but in the end they become th best-of-friends. This book shows everything that happens in friendships and in the end everyones been backstabed and has backstabed someone else. I think you should READ THESE BOOKS! (6/14/09)

book jacket image Confessions of A Teen Nanny by Victoria Ashton (Confessions of A Teen Nanny #1)

Oddly funny and ridiculous (3/22/07)
Leah, 12

Imagine babysitting a genius who has a spoiled rich brat for an older sister. This is the life of Adrienne Lewis. A believable story with a twist at the end. It reminded me of the disasters my own babysitting experiences have had. (3/20/07)
Sammy, 15

GREAT story couldn't put it down! (1/25/07)
Jill, 12

A good book, though painfully unrealistic. It was funny, and odd, but there were parts that aren't suited for the audience that it is meant to target. The main character attends drunken partys, probably gets stoned herself over five times over the course of the book (half of those while she's supposed to be watching young kids), and there is a major, 1,000 kids skinny dipping session. It would have been better had there not been any of this. 6/10. (1/5/07)
Kenzie, 14

this bool was soooooooooo good very mysterous (11/8/06)
Telina, 14

i love this book! cameron is so mean! (11/1/06)

This is a great book. Only read it if you are over 11 or 12 because it might be hard to understant.(6/27/08)
Emily, 12

Great perspective on a boy with Aspergers Syndrome (part of the autism spectrum disorder). Really opens up one's eyes to just *how* differently people view the world, especially those with mental disorders. The novel is very realistic and well - written. The thought process the protagonist goes through is very complex and is completely thought provoking - do we view the world oddly? (6/25/08)
Cassie, 16

Really, really interesting. It is a story from an autistic boy's point of view, and it has a great subject and plot line. Deffinetly read this, it really opens your eyes to what some people have to go through, but it's not depressing. (5/5/08)

book jacket image The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown (Robert Langdon series #2)

I love this book mostly because Dan Brown paid so much attention to all the little details and it was a complex story. I really don't get all the controversy over it. It's a book, thats all. (8/26/09)
Katie, 15

Great Book I love how its written from different perspectives, it makes it interesting. Im christian and i loved it! I thought it was amazing... A search for the holy grail...and the best part was the ending.. wow was it good a rush of adventure (8/15/09)
Julie, 13

Pretty much a book written for anyone who isn't Christian...or anyone who has ever known a Christian that they didn't think was a complete and total idiot. I found it very offensive. (8/1/09)
Rachel, 17

An interesting perspective, and definitely a fascinating read. A great bit of fun that will set you to wondering about history. (7/26/09)
Juliana, 16

Um, it's okay............ (6/19/09)
Zoe, 13

This is just ridiculous! It is so far fetched, and makes Christians in general look like a bunch of morons! Robert Langdon's logic is not only impossible and outlandish, but dark, hard to follow, and boring. It's a novel- length attack on religious people, and nothing else. (2/21/09)
Chad, 16

Great book, really makes you think, you could read it as a fiction or nonfiction, but depending on your religion, i suggest fiction. A little hard to follow, but worth it, really hard to put down (2/17/09)

My mother always used to tell me that while imatation was the highest form of flattery, each imatation got farther from the splendor ans beauty of the orginal. For the longest time, I had no idea what she was talking about. That is, until I read this book and some of its imatations. book jacket image Dragon Ball Z by Akira Toriyama

I read the book Dragon Ball Z and it is an amazing book. The type of this book is a fiction graphic novel. It is a comic book that has some amazing adventures they travel and they have amazing powers. I chose this book for three important reasons one is because I like Dragon Ball Z and because they have some great adventures. For instance they try to get some spears not regular, not simple but magic balls wit those they bring the god from the planet that gives them three wishes. Second reason is because they bring a lot of action and some tuff fights to the heroes of Dragon Ball Z. My third reason is because actually some one recommended to me. But one thing is that mi favorite part is when the protectors from earth do the best to keep all the people safe. One thing is that this is a great book because also you don't reed it you also can learn many stuff like never try to things they do. I really don’t have a connection to my own life but to other books I read? Yes because I have read book that also they are so familiar to this book. But actually this book is not that grate to small kids because actually it has many violence things like a lot of blood. The conflict is that a lot of bad people want to rule the planet but when they come they have to confront all the characters that they are Goku, vegeta, ghohan and etcetera also one thing I can tell you is that they travel and defend the world no mater what. oooooooooooooooooooooooo don't for get to read this book and don’t try the things they do at home. book jacket image Dying to Cross by Jorge Ramos

The book is about these illegal immigrants that want to cross to the U.S. It is the worst immigrant tragedy in American history. It tells stories from the survivors and family of the immigrants about how it was inside the trailer. For example, the story of Carolina. She lost her husband and her child. Her child was five years old. Also about Enrique and Alberto. They were inside the trailer. They said it was like hell inside the trailer. Some people died of dehydration. There were 74 immigrants inside the trailer. 48 immigrants were from Mexico, 16 from Honduras, 8 from El Salvador, 1 from Nicaragua, and at least 1 from the Dominican Republic. They went from Reynosa, MX all the way to Victoria, TX. This tragedy happened on May 13, 2003. The driver left the trailer in a gas station in Victoria. He opened the door of the trailer and he took off as fast as he could. Some immigrants were already dead some took off running. The police captured every immigrant that took off. They gave all the immigrants work permits while they put all of the coyotes in jail. (5/29/08)

"Eclipse" by Stephanie Meyer is the great sequel of "Twilight" that I read. It's a romance fiction book. I chose it because it is the third book of twilight saga. I started to read "twilight" then "new moon" and right now I'm reading eclipse. I wanted to read the sequel. I don't like to read just one book knowing that there's a sequel and I'm very curious on what events are going to happen and discover new characters. Forks Washington is an amazing place where this wonderful story takes place. One of my favorite events in the book is when Edward lets Bella keep talking and visiting Jacob. Edward recognizes that Bella is going to be safe with Jacob too because Jacob is in love with her and takes care of her like if she was with Edward. My favorite characters are Bella, Edward, Jacob and the whole Cullen family because all of them are very nice and they don't like to hurt people to calm their thirst. The problem is that some kind of newborn vampires are trying to find information about Bella. They sneak into her room and take some things that have Bella's scent. The bad thing is that Bella, the Cullen family and the werewolves don't know who is doing that or if the volturi is involved in that and they don't know what to do. This book makes me feel many emotions for example I feel very excited when Edward or Jacob are alone with Bella because they talk about them and how they feel when they are together. This book changed my life. In my opinion it changed my mind about reading. Thanks to this book now I love to read and I have seen a lot of improvement in my reading and comprehensive skills. Now I have a different point of view. I strongly recommended because it encourages you to read more and this book absorbs your attention to keep you reading. if you don't like this book well keep looking for the right book that encourages you to keep reading for the rest of your life because reading is like love you have to keep searching for the right one until you find it. book jacket image The Empty Mirror by James Lincoln Collier

totally had me interested. (6/10/09)
natti, 15

The book that I choose is named The Empty Mirror and it's written by James Lincoln collier the author of My brother Sam is death. And this book is a novel. The reason why I choose this book is because just looking at the cover I predicted that it would have some kind of mystery and I like books with those kind of things. This book takes place in a small New England town. And this story talks about the life of an orphan kid named Nick Hodges. He wasn’t alone at all he counted on his uncle jack who took care of him since nick's parents die caused by the town influenza epidemic. Nick was not like any other kid of his age, he always had been a troublesome kid. One day nick woke up with a really weird feeling as he had just lost something important, but he couldn’t figure out what was it, and that feeling didn't went away. Then the story gets more interesting because it talks about how many people said that they saw nick in different places causing trouble, but the most mysterious part is that the book tells the exact location of nick so is confusing to think that people said they saw him. Caused of this nick gets in so much trouble, and he is really confused because he knows that it wasn't really him who caused those problems. As the story goes on nick founds out that he doesn’t have a reflecti! on like any other person, but later on things get more out of order. While nick is doing some kind of community service to pay back for the trouble he didn't committed. His job was to take care of the graveyard that is located on the back of the town's church. While nick was wondering around the graveyard he finds some graves in really bad shape and he knows that something is wrong. And he decides to figure out what's wrong and he's going to solve this mystery. This book has many characters, Nick Hodges, uncle jack, Miss Bell (a teacher), Gypsy (nick's friend), and Reverend Clampett. My favorite character is nick because he is the one being blamed even though that he didn’t do anything. The conflict is that, around the town there are things going on and everybody thinks nick did those things. My favorite part is when nick realizes that he doesn't have a reflection and he doesn't want people to know that because they might laugh at him. I think that this book is good for adolescents because in my point of view kids like mystery so they don't give up on the book because they want to know the conclusion of the mystery. So they just keep reading it. (5/22/09)

The book Esperansa Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan is a really great book. I read it this year in my reading class. In the beginning of this book the story takes place in El Rancho De Las Rosas in Aguascalientes, Mexico and it is about a girl named Esperansa. Esperansa lives with her mom and dad and has a wonderful life until her dad is killed. When her dad is killed, the two uncles Marco and Luis want to take over the ranch, and Luis wants to get married with Esperansa's mom. Esperansa’s mom says no. Marco and Luis burn the ranch so Esperansa and her mom move to California to work in the fields. They cross the border and they live with a family of one of their old workers from their ranch. There Esperansa’s mom works and Esperansa has to help in the house and do chores, something she has never done. Things get worse for Esperansa when her mom gets very sick. Esperansa has to learn to work in the fields so she has money to take care of her mom and herself. Esperansa faces more terrible things in her life during that one year of her life, but read this book to see how she overcomes those sad things. This is a great book to read and I recommend it to everyone because it inspires you to overcome your problems, and never give up even when everything is so bad. This book is a fiction book but inspired by a true story of the author's grandmother who had to overcome her problems and did and then lived a happy life. I read this book because one of my teachers recommended it to me, but I never thought I would read it. Once I read this book it changed me. The book changed me that now I know that even when things are really bad I should never be afraid to start all over. This book would be good for everyone to read because everyone will have a connection in a way because everyone has has had problems and had to overcome them. My favorite part of this book is when Esperansa’s grandmother says her favorite saying "never be afraid to start all over." I really do recommend this book to everyone, and I think many people should read it. (5/29/08)

There is a reason that this is the best seling manga in the united states. It is a wonderful series, and although many people may think it is juvenile because its a manga, it really isn't. You really fall in love with the characters, and there is humor in it as well to combat the sadness . If you like it, thats good, since there are over 15 books, and more coming. Glass by Ellen Hopkins

Ummm, this book makes a lot more sense when you read the the first one, Crank. But ya it is a great book, and there is a third one coming out, its called Flirtin with the Monster. I really like this author! Some of her other books are Burned, Identical, and Impulse. They all deal with hard topics and they are really good! But if you want to read Glass, then read Crank first. It works out a lot better. (5/24/09)
Lily, 14

Why did you choose this book? I chose this book because I wanted to read an interesting book. When I picked up the book it just got my attention because I read the back. It was interesting because it is about people using drugs and I want to know about it because I do not want to fall in that situation. I want to be someone in life. Content: This book is about a girl name Kristina she has a baby and she is only 17 she did not finish high school because of her baby and because she is addicted to crystal meth. It all takes place in Reno Nevada. There are a lot of characters but I am going to tell you of some. Ok the characters are Kristina, Hunter, Kristina’s mom, Kristina's dad, her step dad, her brother, Cesar, Trey. Ok so Kristina is a good girl but she just can't make the right choices. Hunter is Kristina’s baby. The baby just wants to be loved like any other baby. Kristina's mom is a very good mom because she wants the best for her children even if she doesn't have the support of her ex-husband. Kristina's dad is a jerk because how can he leave his own family for another woman. Kristina's step dad is a good guy that wants to help out the family. Cesar is a bad guy because he sells the drug that is making people's life difficult. Trey well he is a guy that a lot of girls like. My favorite character is mom because she fights for what is right. She wants to help every body but more Kristina because she is her daughter. Favorite part is when Kristina gets a job to work for her children and to be independent. The conflict was that she is addicted to meth and she is willing to give up every thing for it and she wants to change that. I connected with this book because I had a friend that was addicted to something then he changed his life and today he is going to school. This book is good for adolescents so they can see the truth about drugs. Also to show how education is very important. This book is intense because if you have a connection you will love to read this book. It's also a page turner so read this book!!! (5/22/09)

i have had friends that did drugs and it was hard for me to help them. and even harder for them to stop. this book gives the point of view of a drug user and how truely hard it is for them and everyone around them. it shows the things you do for drugs and that end result. (7/6/09)

Anna, 13

I would like to review the book Go ask Alice by anonymous. This is a really interesting non-fiction book. Go ask Alice is based on the actual diary of a fifteen-year-old drug user. Alice was a really good girl who was really obedient with her mother and would always be by herself at school. In the middle of the book some girl started talking to her. Alice felt really happy that actually somebody had talked to her for first time in her entire life. The girl invited her to a party that they were going to do at her house the next after school. It all started out when she was served a soft drink laced with LSD in a dangerous party game. In this book I felt a lot of feelings going on with me. At first I felt sorry for Alice because she had no friends. In the middle of the story I felt really happy with her that she had finally started hanging out with different people. In the end I felt sorry for all the bad stuff that was happening with her. At the same time I felt really frustrated and mad with her because she wouldn't try or even make an effort on trying to change her life and just turn the page start a new life. But she didn't she decided to keep on going to the point of even loosing her life for her dumb addiction to drugs! My actual favorite part of the book was when Alice was living the mean poorly life she was on. I really liked that part because I got a really good lesson from that part I learned that the people who invite you to do the wrong things they are not really your friends they are your enemies. book jacket image Halo: The Fall of Reach by Eric Nylund (Halo series #1)

After Halo 3 came out, I went back and reread all the Halo books from this author, and I gained a new appreciation for them while actually getting the whole picture of the Halo universe. If you are a Halo fan than you must read these books. (9/27/07)
Arbitor, 14

I thought that these books were great and so were the sequels. (11/7/06)
Arbitor, 13

This is the best book ever written. If you have played the games this gives you some background info on the Spartans, and if you haven't, this will get you interested. Also read the other Halo books(The Flood & First Strike). (10/31/06)
Weston, 13

book jacket image Halo: First Strike by Eric Nylund (Halo series #3)

If you are a Halo fan, and you are wondering how Sergeant Johnson and the Master Cheif got back to Earth, look no further. This book gives all the details about how the Covenant found Earth and how Spartan-117 beat them to it. (9/27/07)
Arbitor, 14

Even if you didn't play the games and thought they were stupid, you have to read this book and the rest of the series. However, I would strongly suggest reading Halo: The Fall of Reach first. These books are one of the best series that are on the face of the earth. A huge thums up. 10 out of 10. (11/2/06)
Arbitor, 13

This book concludes the Halo series by Eric Nylund. It is about the remaining Spartans and what they are doing while the Master Cheif is carrying out the events of Halo 2. A must for any Halo fan. (9/27/07)
Arbiter, 14

This tells the events of the other Spartans while the Master Chief is on Halo 2. It dwelves into the Forrunner history and tells that they didn't mean to wipe out all life when the rings are activated. It also has a ew breed of Spartan, the Spartan III's. Very good, you must read it and the other books in the series. (1/10/07)

book jacket image Hell Phone by William Sleator

Um.....okay? Weirdist book ever! (7/4/09)
Breezy, 13

this book was insane! so hard for me to explain it. (6/23/09)
Lena, 15

The book that I am reading is called Hell Phone and the author is William Sleator. The reason why I chose it is because it caught my eye and the other reason is that I enjoyed what other readers think of the book on the back cover of the book. This book is about a kid named Nick and that he was poor and he had a single mom and he and she are working hard to earn money. Nick has a girlfriend named Jen and she was the star of the soccer team and a lot of guys went after her but she liked Nick and she was in 10th grade and he was in the 11th grade. And it took place in a trailer park and there home was small but it's all they had because they didn't have much money for a better place. One day Nick was talking to Jen that she's going to have a surprise and Nick wouldn't tell her till tonight. Then he went to a old shop where they sold used phones and he had just enough money to buy a used phone. When he bought the phone he went to work. Then when he got out of work, he went straight home to call Jen. When he got home he turned on the phone and it rang when he turned it on. When he answered the phone a creepy guy said who's this and Nick was scared and he ganged up. Then the guy called again but he ignored it and then he called Jen right away. Then they were talking and he told her that he got this phone only to talk to her and no one else. Then they both heard a rang on the phone and it was that creepy guy that called him first and Jen said "some ones calling you" and Nick said that he that he doesn't need to answer but the guy kept calling. But he got mad then he answered and said “stop calling me "but it wasn't the guy that was calling it was a women crying and he felt bad because he said that to her. She began to say where Trang is, I need Trang then she hung up before he could say anything else. Then Nick started to talk to the creepy guy because he treated him by telling him that he was going to hurt Jen and when Nick heard that he was all ears. The guy was named flick and he wanted to help Lola. Lola must be the crying lady on the phone! Then Nick thought that Flick could help her with her problem. But Flick was in Hell and that he is dead because some one killed him. But there was a problem and it was that Nick didn't know if Flick was good or bad and Flick told him to get some things to get him out of hell. When he got him out he was all burned up and had blood all over and he needed a place to stay and he stayed with Nick in his little trailer. My favorite character is Flick because his sounds like a good guy and I don't think that he wants to hurt anybody. And I also have a favorite part and it’s when Nick gets Flick out of hell thought the phone. In conclusion, Nick really cares about his mom and his wonderful girlfriend and that he still wonders if Flick is good or bad but I think that Flick is a good person and that he wont hurt nobody. I recommend this book to the person that likes scary and mysterious books about phones but I am not done with the book but I protect that the book would have a great ending and I plan to keep it until the end. book jacket image The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams

Full of humor, action and exitment. It's a long book, but it was so good, I read it in one week. The movie is good, but it the story line is so different from the book. (10/29/07)

book jacket image Holes by Louis Sachar

The movie and book are almost exactly alike and one of the best I've seen or read. The actual plot is not likely to occur in America, where the story takes place, but you could certainly start imagining it happening in a different country. Come to think of it, it was like a boot camp doing the work for an evil warden. It is a pretty god read. (11/9/09)
Heather, 13

I enjoyed how the book was realistic yet fantisy. I also enjoy how the movie followed the book so carefully, and the story was absorbing. The characters were realistic. (10/15/09)
Cheyenne, 13

good book. But movie is way better! (9/1/09)
Caleb, 11

Not as good as the first one, but I still really liked it. (8/9/06)

Definitely achieves that glowing feeling that comes with a good romance thats not all trashy. Good characters, too; its hard to decide who the real bad guy is, you're so angry and yet sympathetic to the two bad-yet-good and good-yet-bad guys. You have to pull yourself along through the beginning; its rather depressing; but then it gets muy excellente. (7/9/06)

Woa, hold on. For those of you who liked Inkheart, you might not like the sequel. It is very dark and depressing. People have claimed it is like Tolkien's writing, but it is not. Tolkien was depressing, but that had a point to it. Inkspell is depression without a reason. I gained nothing by reading it. (2/19/08)

book jacket image Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton

This book is a ton better than the movie. You'll actually get to think about things and understand whats going on. (8/25/07)
Matt, 13

This book is so much better than the movie, and the movie was pretty darn good. They dumbed the movie down a lot, so if you want a challenging, fast paced, fun read, read this. (7/2/07)
Alli, 14

I love this book and Michael Crichton! Did you know he is almost 7 feet tall?? (6/22/07)
Arbiter, 13

Definetely a fast paced thriller. Michael Crichton is a great author! Be sure to read a lot of his books, like Prey. This book was great, although the Lost World (the sequel)wasn't as good. (6/11/07)
Sara, 14

The book was totally better than the movie. Some of the main characters die that lived in the movie-Read it and find out who! (11/20/06)
Arbitor, 13

I know you have seen the movie, but the book is a whole lot better. There are some gory details about people getting their guts ripped out by raptors, so it isn't for younger kids. (11/16/06)
Arbitor, 13

I want to review this too!

katie, 13

this book was ok. but i liked it a lot. (11/20/07)
Catie, 12

it is an awsome book! It picks up where Cinderella left off. it is life after she gets in the palace. Great book! It is not frilly at all! it has a ton of mystery and suspense. Even a little bit of romance! (10/29/07)
Tiana, 12

this was a good book that waz different than most fairytales (10/3/07)
Abbie, 13

Oh, forgive me if I vomit due to another sickening fairy tale novel, although I doubt as to wether this immature childtale's fantasy could even be classified as that. (9/17/07)
Arbiter, 14

This book is about how the story of Cinderella was told all wrong. Our herione didn't have a fairy godmother. In fact there is not magic at all (unless you count love). Happily ever after isn't what Cinderella expected. (9/15/07)
Sammy, 15

I want to review this too!

panda, 15

This is a very good book about the Russian invasion of Afghanistan and the Taliban takeover. Amazing, with sudden twists and turns that will keep you guessing to the end. There is some mature content though, so I wouldn't recommend it to younger kids. (11/9/05)
Arbitor, 13

This book was great! It is a story about betrayal and redemption. Death and saving a life. Once you start reading it you canno put it down. (10/3/05)

book jacket image Lady Knight by Tamora Pierce (Protector of the Small series #4)

A good book....O.O (6/21/07)
Sam, 14

Tamora Pierce is a great author! I love how this character can do great things with the absence of magic. It shows that in the realm of fantasy, you don't have to have special powers to be a hero. Tamora Pierce has a lot of quartets, which can be read in chronological order, but they are great by themselves too! Try reading the Immortal series, which begins with Wild Magic. (6/11/07)
Sara, 14

I want to review this too!

Left Behind series by Tim F. LaHaye

This is a thriller of a book series! In one cataclysmic moment millions around the world disappear. It keeps you hooked with its suspense, action, a little bit of romance and how it shows the glory of God. You can follow the Tribulation Force through all the tribulations of the world in the last days. An amazing read. (9/14/09)

Let's Get Lost by Sarra Manning

One of the best books I have ever read. Sarra Manning is extremely talented author but I felt like this book really stood out. It had a good plot with a strong main charater and amazing describtions of everything, especially emotions. It was more real than anything I have read in a while. (1/1/07)
Missa, 13

KT, 14

One of the Best Books I've read, and an absolutly addicting series. The writting is so fluent and beleiveable that you can't help but get sucked into the world! (4/13/06)
Cydney, 15

I absolutely loved this book. I might have read the series out of order, but it was still great! The idea of a necromancer who banished the dead back to death, instead of raising them up really intrigued me. (2/26/06)
Mary, 14

Read Sabriel first or else you wont like this one, (2/13/06)

book jacket image Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen

Pretty good. I like Sarah Dessen's writing but I don't think she took on the character well. I don't think Sarah knows very much about beinga troublemaker. Haha But read it anyway. (6/22/09)
Lauren, 16

great book! (6/10/09)
natti, 15

This is a very cute book, once I picked it up I couldn't put it down. It's sad, but it has it's typical Happy Ending. (6/6/09)
Razzy, 14

The book really does seriously suck. The end was supposedly good but why is the rest like HORRIBLE!!! PS I didn't finish this book. (6/1/09)
Kelsey, 13

This is an extremely cute book. It seriously sucks you in until you're finished with it. =) (4/2/09)
~skittles~, 14

i really like this book too! i really like sarah dessen, she is one of my favorite authors. this is a good book, but not my favorite. and unlike what aurora said, this book is about a girl who's mom abandons her, she doesn't die. then she goes to live with her sister and her brother in law. its a sad, romantic, and realistic book. i really liked it! (3/26/09)
Layla, 15

I don't see Sarah dessen as a romance writer, I think she writes more about life, sadness, and leaving things behind. I love how she uses symbols in her books to represent other things. My favorite book by her is Just Listen (3/8/09)
Alicia, 13

sarah dessen is unlike any other author out there, she not only writes romance, but it is not overwhelmingly so, no sappy pathetic one line plot, but mainly her stories are about getting over something, letting something go, life lessons. this one is about a girl who's mom dies and she goes and lives with her sister (2/26/09)
aurora, 13

I want to review this too!

book jacket image Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien (Lord of the Rings)

I LOVED these books!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (9/28/09)
Nicole, 13

This series is one of the best series of all time. The characters are so well-developed and I admire how brave they all are. Harry Potter fans: the Gandalf-Frodo relationship is very similar to the bond between Dumbledore and Harry. People who love fantasy cannot go without reading these books. (8/1/09)
Sarah, 13

Increadable! All four books are PRICELESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!! I cant put them down once I read them. And re-read them. And re-read them again! 3 times as good as the movies. (6/29/09)
Kathleen, 12

IT's very discriptive. Alittle too much in fact, but if you do manage to read it you will (like me) become obsessed with Lord of the Rings. (6/15/09)
Rosie, 14

I want to review this too!

book jacket image The Lost World by Michael Crichton

I know it sounds mean, but I love the way Lewis Dogston dies! "See, there is a God!" (6/22/07)

book jacket image Love Rules by Dandi Daley Mackall

this is a very good book. it shows how one person will do anything that makes you happy just to be close to you (10/31/09)
Emma, 15

This book is utterly fantastic- it keeps you guessing and is very well written. It's a nice and cute romance novel with very little drama, mixed in with discovering what you want in life. Very good- Highly recommend it myself!1 (10/14/09)
Alicia, 18

I want to review this too!

book jacket image Lucas by Kevin Brooks

This is my favourite book ever. It's absolutely amazing!! It's from the point of view of a girl, Cait who falls in love with a drifter, Lucas. Lucas is such an unbelieveable character - he's animal like, loving, kind and really understands people(and very good looking!). The people in the town are prejudiced against him simply because he's different but Cait is captivated by him. It's similar to 'To Kill a Mockingbird' and is absolutely brill! I fell deeply, madly in love with Lucas by the end of this book. (4/5/09)
Julia, 15

I want to review this too!

This book is about the two twins (Sandy and Dan) and how they go back in time to the time period of Noah and the Great Flood. If you liked A Wrinkle Through Time, than you have to read this book. (4/17/07)
Arbiter, 13

book jacket image Mara Daughter of the Nile by Eloise Jarvis McGraw

I thought that when I first saw this book that it would be boring but it was very intresting and was very action packed. This girl is a slave yet she turns into a spy and is abale to fall and love, become rich and for fill her missionto save Egypt (2/24/07)
Amanda, 13

One word: wow. I kinda avoided this book when I first got it, for the tiny little print intimidated me, but once I got started, it was great. Mara, a beautiful slave, finds herself being the spy for two arch enemies. She falls in love with one of her masters, Sheftu, and faces drama with everything that comes with romance. This book is sure to keep your interest. If you get bored after the 1st chapter, keep reading. However, if you are wishing for a quick read, this probably isn't for you. It took me days to read this, and I'm a very fast reader. I encourage anyone to read this book if you're looking for a way to improve your writing skills, and just read an exhillarating book with action, romance, and suspense. (11/27/06)
Rashelle, 14

All I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! (1/10/06)

Monicka, 14

you have to read this book it is so cooool! it will blow your mind a way (11/30/05)
dan, 12

This book is AWESOME!!! The book is set in ancient Egypt and gives an interesting view of one of the conflicts historical Egypt had. Who should be pharaoh, Thutmose or Hatshepsut? It took a few pages for this plot to start, but once it did it didn't stop. I stayed up one night so I could finished it. I
